WCPT Presentation: How relevant is the muscle twitch with manipulation?

June 9, 2011 by Chris McCarthy

Recent work by an Osteopathic PhD student of mine (Dr Louise Potter) has shown that whilst the local, deep musculature twitches in response to manipulation it is not relevant to pain changes and is no different to the twich generated by a sham manipulation. So, the theory that spinal manipulation “reboots” the whole system looks a bit unlikely.
